I graduated from Manchester school of physiotherapy with a first class BSc Hons Physiotherapy degree.
I spent time working in big teaching hospitals in Manchester and London before settling in Leamington in 2008 and working at The Nuffield in Out-patients. I started working at The Well centre in 2009 and have worked here ever since, as both a class teacher and physiotherapist.
I now work part time at UHCW in Coventry, again in out-patients, but am currently seconded for 18 months, to a really exciting and worthwhile project. I will be the strategic lead for the new breast care rehabilitation pathway which has been funded by The West Midlands Cancer Alliance.
I teach ante and postnatal pilates classes here at The well centre (and have done since 2009). I feel that I know almost everyone in Leamington with a child!! I teach all other levels of classes and am currently teaching introductory and mixed level classes and covering others when needed.
I love the class environment and the benefits you gain from being with others. I love that members of the classes get to know each other, making the environment more relaxing and informal. I love using equipment and giving you lots of repetitions of exercises. I’m very aware of postural correction and have many styles of teaching to enable you to be able to accomplish new exercises and advance through the levels. Gaining strength, balance and flexibility will help to gain confidence and improve wellbeing.
In addition to NHS work, I was the Venue Medical Manager at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre for Birmingham 2022 and have worked with British swimming on and off for many years as a physiotherapist. Being a keen swimmer myself, I love these opportunities, if family life allows me to do them! I also work within other sporting teams namely Touch Rugby, diving and Ultimate Frisbee. I have my finger in many pies and love the variety that physiotherapy offers.
Out of work I have 2 children, now both in high school, and am officially mum’s taxi! You may well see me running the streets of Leamington – not quickly I might add, but probably catching up with a friend! I’m an advocate of park run but still love my swimming most of all. I just completed a ‘Swim the night challenge’ in aid of Aspire – a spinal cord charity – 12 miles in 12 hours – overnight – yes I was exhausted from staying awake all night!!
